Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to let you know that once again this year, the School of Music at Florida International University will be offering graduate assistantships for our MM program, including the Music Composition program. If you have any composition students considering an MM for the fall, please encourage them to contact me directly at garciao@fiu.edu
Additional information can be found at:
https://carta.fiu.edu/music/music-composition/ and https://carta.fiu.edu/music/apply/
The TA/GA positions include a tuition waiver and a stipend in exchange for a 20-hour-per-week assignment within the School of Music. These opportunities are available to both domestic and international students. Applications will be reviewed through February, though earlier submissions will receive priority consideration.
Our composition program offers courses in music technology and interdisciplinary work in documentary and media writing, as well as collaborative opportunities with our dance and visual arts programs. In addition, the FIU Symphony Orchestra and our artists-in-residence, the Amernet String Quartet, regularly read student works, and our alumni are featured annually in the New Music Miami ISCM Festival.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or to share this information with anyone who may be interested.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Dr. Orlando Jacinto Garcia
